Virgin and Child - The Carmelite Church and Monastery in Kensington
A Portland Stone sculpture from hundred years ago, it had worn badly in a windswept position. Many of the facial features and ornaments required in-situ repair and carving before epoxy-glue fixing and stone render repair. The sculpture was rescued from the interior of the original church by firemen during the Blitz when the church burned after an incendiary went through the roof and settled within the organ.
